Snow Removal Questions

Winter Weather Preparation – 2026

We understand that these types of events can cause stress and raise concerns. We are here to provide information and work with our snow removal contractor for the privately owned streets until services are completed.

Snow removal responsibilities are shared between the Association and local agencies:

  • The Sheffield Manor Association is responsible for plowing and treating the privately owned community streets, in this case Townhome streets.
  • VDOT and the County maintain and are responsible for plowing and treating public streets, in this case Single-Family Home streets.
  • Sheffield Manor Homeowners are responsible for snow and ice removal in areas designated within their ownership, including their lot and parking spaces, if applicable.

For services on the Sheffield Manor Association’s privately owned community streets, our contractor is prepared to respond as conditions develop, keeping roadway areas accessible throughout the event. Our goal is always to prioritize safety and maintain access for emergency and service vehicles even when conditions are changing hour by hour. Please note that during active snowfall, street conditions may remain snow-covered despite ongoing service.

Our snow removal contractor will plan to work from start to finish. We ask for your understanding and please remember that their team members will be out in the storm for what could be 48-hours straight in some of the coldest temperatures of the season.

How Can Residents Help?

  • Please do not stop the snow removal drivers to make special requests or express concerns, this interrupts services and creates delays for everyone. Any concern should be directed to your property management team or VDOT depending on the street.
  • When clearing or shoveling snow, place the snow on your lawn or landscape areas. Do not shovel into the streets or curbs, larger snow piles can become excessive that the plow cannot handle.
  • Please relocate and park vehicles in driveways or garages to allow plows full access to the streets.
  • Make sure vehicles are not blocking fire hydrants, intersections or mailboxes.
  • Limit travel within the community during active plowing whenever possible.
  • Please report true emergencies only during the storm to avoid overwhelming emergency lines.

Trash Service Impact:

Trash and recycling collection for Sheffield Manor may be delayed, rescheduled, or suspended due to weather conditions and road accessibility. If service is delayed, residents should leave containers at the curb until collection resumes, unless otherwise directed. Additional updates will be shared as information becomes available.

During this snow event from Saturday through Monday, there will not be visitor spaces parking enforcement on the privately owned community streets within the Sheffield Manor community.

Contact Information:

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews work to keep the community as safe and accessible as possible during this event.
